The influence of pulp chemistry on the flotation performance of sulphide ores has been widely studied. It is well recognised that shifting from a reductive to an oxidative grinding environment affects the pulp chemistry and improves the flotation performances of sulphide ores. Today numerous operations use high chrome media in their communion circuits for this purpose. However, the role of pulp chemistry on the flotation response of mixed ore is poorly understood. Mixed ore consists of a variety of sulphide and oxide minerals, and forms a part of the supergene enrichment zone of sulphide ore bodies. This study highlights the importance of pulp chemistry for mixed ore recovered by sulphidisation and flotation.
